Default Resizing question

My Nikon takes pics that are 2.3 mb. I am still unclear (after several attempts) on when and how to resize the picture for email and upload. Can someone give me a hint? I've tried the Nikon software as well as HP media smart. I don't have photoshop. Thanks!

Most internet services limit the size of images you post in order to keep their site moving quickly. However, there are a lot of services that will help you resize your large size images to something a bit more palatable. FastStone is among the best and fastest and, better still, its free. I will let you bulk resize and gives you lots of options if you go to the "Advanced" button.

If you want an application that allows you to batch-resize images, VSO make one called VSO Image Resizer which does an awesome job. It is free for non-commercial use (with a nag screen). It'll resize an entire batch of images for you to a set length and width, and if you wanted, will also watermark them with a transparent logo of your choice.

(The links above will take you to VSO's homepage, and a direct download link of the application itself).

If you're a Windows User and are using XP or Vista (there is probably something for Windows 7 as well, but I haven't looked), Windows Powertoys are a free download from Microsoft. The Image-Resizer powertoy is an inbuilt plug-in to Windows to resize images (in batches, no less) on the fly. Click here for the link for the Windows XP Powertoys.

Default Another option for freeware batch file resizing

You can also try a batch/single file resizer called FOTO-Sizer. It is also freeware.

Check out infranview. It's free, i like it better than windows photo gallery, and it converts raw files. Oh yeah, it also resizes.
