Default Confused about the different look in same JPG file (maybe color profile related?)

Hello everyone,

I'm new to post processing and photography. This problem has bugged me for a while. I use Adobe bridge and adobe camera raw to convert my Canon CR2 raw file into JPEG. After I done the processing withe curve etc in camera raw, and save the result as a JPG file.

When I view the output JPG file in Adobe bridge or camera raw, it seems to keep all my adjustment especially the color / vbibrance. However when I just try to open the JPG file in other program (such as in Irfanview) to see the same JPG file, the color looks off.

To show the difference, I captured a screenshot. On the attached screenshot, the left side shows the JPG in Camera raw / Adobe bridge; the right one is showing in Irfanview. It's the same JPG file.

I suspect it has something to do w/ color profile not being used by Irfanview. I don't know enough about color profile. Can you please recommend a good solution? or maybe share a tip on how you guys process your RAW file.

Thank you very much.

It just depends on the way the specific program interprets the colours. Have some fun: Throw it into different web browsers, too!

I found out that after I change the setting in program to use adobe profile, they looks correct now.

How do you control the saving of JPG file to use the correct color profile? So that your image looks correct on the web?

WHy are you using the Adobe profile? (I assume you mean AdobeRGB) ...standard is sRGB

Maybe if you need the extra push for printing, you might consider Adobe if the printer asks for it, but web standard is sRGB...

Is there way to convert jpg saved w/ AdobeRGB to sRGB, and the color would come out correct? (assuming I have been using AdobeRGB so far to convert my raw image, looks like I've been doing that.)
