Question Does ProPhoto RGB have a larger gamut than AdobeRGB, or is it just wider?

Hey,

I was happily using AdobeRGB for my photos, until I saw an article that said that there are the same number of colours in AdobeRGB and sRGB. The difference is in the range of colours; AdobeRGB has a wider range, but sRGB has smoother colour varations.

I also read that the default colourspace for Lightroom 2 is ProPhotoRGB: this has a much larger colour space than AdobeRGB. So is it merely wider, but with the same number of colours, or does it simply contain more colours?

thanks

aRGB and sRGB are both 8 bit color spaces, but ProPhotoRGB is 16 bit. There are more colors and they are as smooth as sRGB.
