Well I don't know how many megapixels you have to work with, my phone takes some good shots but it is two megapix. It looks like you have a lot of noise so you might try some noise reduction software to see if it can be salvaged. There is also software that uses fractal technology that does a good job interpolating so that you can blow things up fairly well.

Pixels per inch don't really mean anything as reported by most software. That is something you set to tell it the size of the output you want. Take a look at the size of the picture, i.e. if it is 1200 by 1600 pixels and you want to print at 6 by 8 then it will be 200 ppi.

How about printing the small photo, and then taking a photo of it with your big camera? It may take a bit of work. I haven't tried anything like this, before, and I don't know what the negatives (pardon the pun) are

Dont bother, unless you're putting into a locket or something. It's far too small. If you came into my place of work with that I'd simply refuse to print it.

....Just try printing it small like someone else said, then scan it at decent resolution - it will be noisy, but it will work.

Thank you for your time and effort.
I really didn't plan on printing it big anyway...knowing it's not going to have a great quality....but a little bigger than a locket i think lol lol . I knew there wasn't much hope for a bigger size unless i just staged the whole scene and took a real picture of it again with my camera. Which actually crossed my mind once. But it is the fact I caught them in the moment that makes it special to me and has a certain memory attached to it that way. So I think I will just try a 4x6 from my printer and put it in a matted frame to make it look bigger for the wall. So I tried to reduce the grain and noise also. And clicked on a couple of other filters, for auto skin correction, and played with it a little bit. It definitely looks better. Maybe I might try to take a picture of it on screen and see what that gets me. If not that way the scanner idea sounds good too. THAN YOU ALL FOR YOUR INPUT

What is the width and height, in pixels, of the image, from your camera?
I can't believe it would be 75x100, that's a fraction of a megapixel. You can usually safely print at 150ppi. So, divide your images width and height in pixels by 150 and you'll find how many inches wide and high you can acceptably print at. If you still have some problems, one trick is to soften the photo with some gaussian blur. The sharper your edges, the harsher they'll look as you approach the limits of printability. |
