I am using nikon view NX program to convert raw files to jpeg and tiff.but don't know how to convert few photos at one go.at the moment converting photos one by one which can be very tiring at times.can any one of you help?.Thank you for your time

Thank you for advise. But can one convert RAW files which are propritory using a non Nikon program like photoshop.I am using cs2 and tried to convert but it says file not identified.I am new to digital photography can you help?

CS2 will not recognize the NEF files from your D3000 DSLR, but what you can do is convert the NEF files to DNG files (Digital Negatives) with Adobe DNG Converter. You'll need DNG version 5.5 for your D3000. CS2 will work with DNG files.
