Question Photoshop and Lightroom

This is the first time I ahve used this forum so apologies in advance if I'm in the wrong place! I have recently purchased a Canon EOS 5D MarkII along with a couple of lenses after many years of photographing with an old Pentax then EOS350D. A substantial upgrade for me, but have become increasingly more enthusiastic after several trips to China has re-ignighted my passion. Along with researching for this new camera I learned the benefits of shooting in RAW and now wish to get right into it. Having just returned from a recent visit to China I have lot's of photo's I'd like to experiment with. I have downloaded trial copies of Lightroom and Photoshop and have hit a brick wall! Can anyone advise me of any courses in Photoshop and Lightroom that I might attend in or around Hobart Tasmania?

I can't help you with the classes, but there are numerous pages on the internet that will get you started. Lightroom is pretty straight forward and not really very difficult. Since i have started using lightroom I only go into Photoshop when I need layers, channels, cloning or other things that require a little more manipulations.

I use Scott Kelby quite a lot and have taken some of his on-line classes which helped some:
Also the Adobe site has some info. and I also got the book called lightroom 2 book for digital photographers from Amazon

Hi HankW, thanks for the advise. I have ordered Scott Kelby's Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 2 books for digital photographers last night through Amazon. Looking forward to checking them out when they arrive. In the mean time I'll see what I can find on the net.

Regards

Geoff
