Disclaimer: I'm a total novice. I have no idea what I am doing.
I have been using PSE 8 for Mac to play around. My photos are organized in iPhoto *ducks* (please don't throw anything at me...I hate iPhoto too). Since I started getting more serious about photography, iPhoto definitely isn't working for me. So I've got files everywhere...and it's a mess. I downloaded the trial version of Lightroom to see if it would better suit my needs. Playing around in LR a little has shown me that 1. I know nothing. 2. I like the result of a little tweaking in LR as opposed to what I was ending up with in PSE. Okay, my point. Lightroom is very overwhelming to me. And looking up tutorials is equally overwhelming because of the bazillion options out there. So, if you are kind of like me...and new to this whole thing...but you "learned" Lightroom and love it, can you tell me - did you get your hands on a great book? tutorial? trial and error? What did you do to learn it? Thanks in advance.

For me, it was mostly experimentation and just spending time in LR. The main thing is to keep backups in case you do something and want to revert back. But like lots of things in life, it is just a case of investing your time. Hands-on is better than books, but books do make a handy reference and guide on the journey, especially when you aren't near a computer
