Default Help with PP

I got this snap of my kiddo at the park. Seems like every time I pull out the camera he dashes - so I was fortunate enough to catch this shot. But because of his tendencies of jetting I didn't take the time to set it up, so there is a big pole sticking out his head. I can clone it out in areas surrounding the sky, but in the areas of the tree I have not been so successful (using gimp). Any one suggestions? Or feel free to take a whack at it.

Yes, that would probably be easier than trying to paint more of the tree in. Meanwhile, keep your camera out for longer so that he forgets you've got it!

Hi Chad, you need something like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or Picassa to try this. Gimp isn't powerful enough. As an alternative you could mask out the background and then you can stick him on whatever background you like

Gimp has plenty of power to do what is required. The clone brush would easily do it, even better on a duplicate layer so that a layer mask could be used to paint out overzealous adjustments.
