Default Monitor calibration???

I seem to have major issues when i print my pics. They look perfect on my monitor (and on few other monitors i checked them) but when printing them i seem to get some of the highlights bleeding. Except two occasions when i got my prints much darker and lost all detail in the shadows... And other pics come out just fine...

I did all the calibration in the Mac system preferences and i still have problems.

Before i end up spending money on trial and error calibration software, is there any other way i can calibrate it? And if i do have the spend the money, should i calibrate it at the guys when i do all my printing (to be in line with their machine) or buy one of those calibration softwares?

After i invested everything i have in lights, stands, reflectors and umbrellas im trying to figure out ways of making sure that i do get my pics right in printing as well...

Thank you.

Alexandra

In order to get the kind of prints you want you need to be able to make printing judgements from the image on your monitor. There are some wonderful tools available for precise calibration, but before you make that investment you may want to look at the information available for free. The following webiste will give you a great deal of information that will get you pointed in the right direction: Monitor calibration and gamma

Ok... Calibrated the monitor and by checking the display by the prints the brightness and contrast seem to be all right now.... Guess ill need time to get used to looking at my pics from a printing point of view, cos while it looks ok printed on the monitor im not sure i do love it... Hmmm....
