nice work. I like the lighting in both - strong masculine light. The rose tint is more interesting at least to me...and the expression is a bit more broody. Catchlight are good. I think the crops are very tight as the top of your hair is cut off. Might be a bit stronger with some of the shoulder showing... might not - just a thought.
Very nicely done.

Cheers Zona, for a first attempt I'm actually quite impressed with them, have just been reading a few books (Scott Kelby) and took some tips from him re window lighting, posture etc then just snapped away using my remote.

Thanks again for the advice I will take into account for next time.

Nice job for a first attempt.

Looking at the pictures at the largest size on Flickr, I feel like the focus is a little soft. I'm not sure what settings you used on your camera, but you may want to try stopping down your aperture (larger f-number) to increase your depth of field.

Just a thought. Happy shooting.

i think theyre both rather boring. i'm 50 days into the 365 project, so i've gotten better at judging selfportraits.

the composition is lacking, and theres really not much to uncover about the shot. its all just...there.

I like the rosey one better of the two. I like the angle of your head and where you are looking better. The lighting is great. I think I would like them more if you weren't so centered.
