I think you cropped too tight, I'd like to have seen the steering wheel in the shot.

The face is lite well, but the shirt is blown out.

I agree with Wood. Also, the other car in the background is distracting to me for some reason. Looking at it again. The hightlights on the background car look like they are shooting out of the subjects face. You might try just blurred scenery in the background. Cheers and Good Shooting.

I'd really like to see the shot wider and cropped landscape to be honest. Wood hit the nail on the head with the shirt. Between it being so overwhelming, the speeding car and the pinched crop the eye really ends up all over the place.

I am admittedly fairly new to this but I would have shot several shots then not told my subject when I was going to shoot again to get around that "I'm smiling and not looking so shoot already" look that subjects get sometimes especially in a candid situation. One other thing I've read repeatedly is to frame your subject and 'know' your background. The car flying by really detracts from the photo and of course cropping wider is just going to make that worse.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I wasn't planning on shooting any that day, so when I grabbed my camera I didn't get the lens that I should have... hence the zoomed in photo. Should I have used my wide-angle lens (10-22mm)?

btw, gdowden, love the Patton quote!

I think wide-angle shot in landscape orientation would work better.
