Default G'day everyone, I'm back after 5500klms

and everything has changed!! I have no idea where to place these photos so I'll start here with a running commentary. I have had a marvelous time and am surprised how many times I have stopped and said WOW. I would still be out there if my husband didn't point the car towards home. I intended to keep in touch while I was traveling however getting the INTERNET in most places we were just didn't exist. The hardest problem I had with the photographs was trying to fit the immenseness (don't know if that is a word but I'm sure you get the idea) of what I was looking at. Anyway I tried, and a special thankyou to my long suffering husband who had to pull over all the time for me to take a photo.

First stop was Broken Hill, but this was 25klms west of Broken Hill in a place called Silverton, where gold and then silver was discovered in the 1800s.

Roads Trip 1-02

a very harsh and unforgiving land I have no idea how anyone survived. It wasn't long before large mineral sites were discovered in Broken Hill and Silverton became a ghost town.

Today most of the houses were moved or abandon but a few places remain as tourist attractions, and many movies are made out here. Any Mad Max fans?

just loved the landscape, to be in the middle of it seemed surreal.

Just love the landscape.

I will be putting more pictures on my flickr site feel free to drop in and have a look.

Welcome back Michele! Hope you had a fabulous time - by the looks of things from these pics, you certainly did! Gorgeous blue, sunny skies - and yes, it's been all-change around here - some teething issues but I think the dust has settled now!

Nice selection Michele and nice to have you back safely and with such tales. I like these and am always at the scale of your country. I Google mapped Broken Hill to get a feel for the geography, and now I ready for the next installment please

Welcome back Michele. These are really great shots Michele and I hope your time was equally so. I love the first best (probably because it has a tree) lol

Michelle, I love each and every one of these photgraphs, colours compositions and wonderful scenery. Immenseness sounds good to me lol or maye Vast. Either way you captured it so well. This is deserted nature at its finest. Great work Michelle and also thanks go to your husband for stopping and letting you shoot.
There is an even better tour on flickr I loved it there as well.

David

Thanks Steve, we did have great weather because it was very windy and only about 24º which is very strange in summer. We were searching for jumpers in Broken Hill. Normal temperatures here in summer would be high thirties to mid forties.

Thanks Nicky, there are so many more pictures to come. Not to sure about the new and improved site but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Thanks Beach, and what a good idea to check out the area in Google, keep doing it as I go along because there is just so much I can not show with my pictures.

Thanks Leona, if you like the dead tree check out my flickr site and look at the trees on the creek bed. I could not get over the size of some of these trees growing in nothing. If you ever get lost in the desert here find a group of trees and you have water, probably underground but it's there.
