Do you know what type of magic show and where/what time of day it is taking place? Magicians tend to have preferential areas - mentalism, card/close up work, grand illusions, etc. Dependent upon the type of magic show, this can affect the shots you would want to achieve. For example, grand stage illusions probably work best with a slight wide angle to encompass the scene, whereas table magic would possibly benefit more from tightly cropped photos.

Aside from the magician/assistant, capturing the crowd reaction at a reveal can be fantastic - especially if it is an audience with mostly children.

You might want to add some dynamic elements to shots, therefore slow down shutter speeds for some shots with dramatic hand movement/fairly stationary head (or snooted flash on the areas you wish to freeze)
