if this isn't in the right place, please relocate me to there!
I am going to be photographing Homecoming ceremonies (for my sister who made homecoming court!) at the local highschool.. during a football game.. at 7pm or so.. I am clueless on what settings to use?? I usually shoot in shutter priority.. I am just lost where to start.. Those weird stadium lights.. nighttime.. i won't be able to get onto the field.. ( I don't think) so my flash won't carry all the way onto the field.. Thanks in advance! oh.. I shoot with a fuji finepix s9000 dslr.. ashlee |

Its hard. Open the aperture up and use as fast of a shutter speed as possible. You might have to sacrifice a little quality too. You should put the ISO speed to a higher setting so you can use a faster shutter speed to capture the motion better. You photos might be a little noisy with a higher ISO, but the stadium lights might work out okay. Also, you might need to play around with the white balance setting a little. Usually the lights give off a very white light, so a setting for a florescent situation might work.
I hope thats helps, if it doesn't make sense, let me know. |

that's kind of what I was thinking.. but I wasn't 100% confident in my choices.. Thanks for the info though
I will try these friday at the game.. wish me luck! I still have 7 months to figure out gym settings for graduation!! hahaashlee i also shoot in RAW.. so should I still be super worried about the white balance? Or just mess with that in post? I have photoshop elements too.. |

Like sharky said, set your white balance to fluorescent, and that should get you pretty close to nailing the white balance. Then, when you're going through them on the computer, you can adjust it slightly, if necessary.
Hope it works out for you!
