Exclamation Photographing baby delivery.

Hello, one of my really good friends is going into labor tomorrow and asked if could be in the delivery room and photograph this event. I've never done anything like this and was wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions to help me prepare for this shoot. Thanks.

I've never done this for someone, but my husband took pictures (point and shoot) and video when our son was born. The one thing I would do is make sure the doctor/nurses/staff know that you will be in there taking pictures.

I shot pics of all three of my children being born. Fortunately it wasn't all at once. But better to ask the delivery room where you can stand and such. it makes them feel important

Ouch! I can't imagine the pain for having one at once, or two....much less eight! It was bad enough being there, trying to give encouraging support with a camera in my face. I think I was called everything but nice by my wife.

When you process the photos, you might find that converting to black and white makes a better "just hatched" image...reduces the colors of the birth process.

Have fun with this one. Very exciting!

added: Don't forget to charge your batteries and take an extra one, plenty of flash cards, and a diffuser for your flash in case you need to use it.
