Default High Key Self Portraits

Hello everyone,

As a personal project I've been going around flickr looking for cool self-portraits that I could try and duplicate. I'm trying to find ones that will help me learn new techniques. While I was searching I found the following portrait (linked because I'm not sure he wants the image displayed on the forum) here.

Does anyone have any hints on how to get that look (not the selective color portion, the high-key portion)? It seems to me that it has to be more than simple over exposure right?

Thanks for any help you can provide,

Bryan

Looks like a strobe was placed at camera left above the person pointing down shooting through an umbrella (you can see the catch light in the eyes). Another strobe may have been placed to light the background probably a stop or two over the main light falling on the person. Hard to tell how the background was lit it's a really close crop.

Thanks for the advice. I only have one speedlight, so I'm going to give it a shot this weekend with some natural light as the main light then the speedlight for the background. Hopefully it'll turn out alright.
