Default wedding phoography cameras?

I'm a photography amateur whose had some luck taking good photos. Recently a friend ask me to photograph her wedding a year from now. However, I only have Nikon D40, which is great for beginners, though would you suggest getting something more advanced? Or perhaps, different lenses and filters?

Thanks.

No, that camera is quite adequate-but you must know what you are doing. You will need more than just luck, you need to understand light,in all its forms, and its intensity, direction, and magnitude-and how to modify and manipulate light, for different situations-You need to know how to have detail in a white wedding dress, and simultaneously ,details in a black tuxedo You will also need another camera body, and at least two of everything else, because as Murphy's Law states,if something can possibly go wrong,it will, and at the most inopportune moment..You will also need to know how to pose wedding groups for formal shots. But you have a year to learn,so that gives you a bit of leeway-If you PM me with your e-mail address,I will send you my protocol article and shot list for weddings.Regards, Ken
