Default Football Team Pic Advice Please

I do lots of sports photography, but all on the field action. I have been asked to take a photo for a high school football (American) team, but want to do something more than the standard straight on the bleachers shot. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have considered the following:

1) Team standing on bleachers shot taken down from a ladder - players looking up.

2) Getting as low as possible and shooting upwards on the team, standing on bleacher.

Here is what's in my bag:

Canon 30D
Lenses:
18-55 mm
50 mm 1:1.8
70-200 mm 1:2.8
*unfortunately no wide angle

#1 is a better bet. You might try shooting them in the endzone too, with some context in the field goal. I've seen that work out very well in the past.

I have a similar assignment. I should shoot cover page for a football (=soccer) team 2010 wall calendar, and a team photo was requested. The standard team photos are so boring, so I would like to do something more. Does anyone have links to interesting shots of sports teams?
