Well she actually just came into my restaurant with her mom and grandmother for dinner. Somehow we got to talking about photography and they asked what I liked to photograph. So I tell them mainly modeling work but I also shoot landscape and nature as well. The grandmother then chimes in that Ally's a model you two should do a shoot together....

At this point I am thinking right.... everyone says that their kid/grandkid is a model... So i was kinda reluctant to do the shoot to say the least. She also didn't look too comfortable with it either because there are a bunch of GWC's out there. So we talk a little while longer and she asks if I am on MM which I am. So we hop onto the internet really quick to compare portfolios and was suprised to see that she really was a model. LOL and I think she was equally suprised to see that I was not a GWC. Anyways I was still kind of reluctant to shoot with her cause we have no concept what so ever to shoot but I keep a list of ideas and things I want to try so I suggest something and she loves the idea so we shoot that.

Here is a result from that shoot
Ally002

We end up having so much fun at the shoot that she wants to do another shoot before she leaves. So I have been wanting to do a really natural contre jour styled shoot and suggest that. Still working on retouching the results.

So moral of the story is that if a grandma or mom says that their kid is a model don't laugh it off completely. You never know....you could end up making some great photographs and more importantly perhaps a new friend.

She is very attractive. I like that last shot you just posted. Good composition and lighting.

nice stuff,
RE: #1
did you gel the fill light for that warm look?
she must have a serious tan otherwise..

i'm just curious as to how you got the warmth in the fill, but kept the white top white.. or was that a PS correction?

either way, looks good.
nice job

I didn't use any reflectors or monolights for the shot. Just a matter of choosing a good location and shooting at the right time of day.

While she does have a bit of a tan I positioned her on an open rocky area so I could take advantage of the white/grey rocks as a reflector. Very minimal photoshop adjustments were done to the image. Only color correcting I did was to pull in the reds a little bit because she got a bit of a sunburn the day before the shoot.

great model!

the picture with the broken mirror is pretty cool too. I like the mirror stuck in the sand more than her holding it up though.

a shame she didn't live closer to colorado.

what's your mm# if you don't mind my asking?
