Default Q - When it rains it pours

Ok so living here in not so sunny brum we have alot of rain.... i dont mind this but say your mid shoot and it rains but the clients are willing to continue how do i protect my camera and lens or will it be fine?

Well that depends on the camera.

Since I shoot Pentax, I take a very small precaution of putting a plastic bag with a hole cut in it around the lens secured by the lens hood. I wouldn't HAVE to do that if I newer lenses, because Pentax bodies are all weather sealed, as are top DA* lines and their new kit lenses.

That's actually what most people do, I just like to gloat that Pentax is weather sealed.

So are my Nikons..... whats your point?

To the OP a plastic bag works well. I use them mainly for my strobes but if it is really coming down hard I will throw one over the camera as well.

Thanks Rex K i have a canon 50D and my main lens is my 50 mm also have the, canon 18 - 55mm, and tamron 75 - 300 lens would it be ideal to buy lens hoods for them? im new to this so my knowledge is still growing and then other then that a plastic bag thankyou again for your advice

Lens hoods are designed to block incident light (to prevent glare) mainly, but are also useful for protecting the front element of the lens from objects: they wont help much for weather sealing.

I personally wouldn't risk my gear, even if it's weather sealed...
