Wink Indoor lighting without a studio

I somehow got lucky with a shot a year ago, and hope to recreate it eventually, however I don't have a studio with fancy lighting. My pic was done in my living room of all places. lol
Any tips on how to create 'studio-like' lighting without breaking the bank???

There are tons of ways to get lighting with out breaking the bank. You can go with the DIY modifiers and hot lights if you are on a super tight budget. Or if you have a small budget you can go with some Alienbees. They are pretty inexpensive and provide good quality. Not as good as profoto, elinchrom, broncolor, hensel etc. but costs about 10 times less.

A trip to your local Home Depot should give you an assortment of lighting options. Stay with the same type of bulbs and adjust your white balance to match and you should be able to recreate that style of photo with ease. Check out some of the Ghetto lighting projects done here so some ideas.

$7 home depot worklight with no bulb used as a reflector for my sb-24.
no studio setup at all. just a living room wall and that, with an sb-25 on the floor aimed at the wall to cut down on cast shadow.

ghetto reflector

its pretty ghetto, but its also almost no money to set up.
