Default Self portrait advice?

I just started my 52 project.
The first week was fine, cause I just took a pic of my feet. I know, I know...totally over done, but whatever. I was in a cruddy mood, but wanted to start my 52.
I just took a million (ok, not really a million) pictures of myself and they all suck, even with photoshop work.
99% of all pictures of me suck!
Any creative ideas or advice for me?

Do you have a remote or cable release? That can help with focusing issues, since you can half-press to set the AF.

as self portraits go i find aknacer's photostream on flickr to be the most interesting one i've seen so far, maybe browsing other people's self portraits can help spawn some inspiration and ideas.

Thanks, I'll check that out!

inkista-the problem isn't focus, I just never look natural in photographs. I always look half dead or something. ROFL

one nice tip in 'looking natural' is to look somewhere else before u press the button, then when u r about to take the shot, look at the camera. what is happening then is ur eye is trying to focus on the camera and make sense of it, theres about like half a second where u will look natural because you are not being self conscious yet. (the advice is usually to tell ur subject to look away, then say look at X then capture them as they just achieve focus but u can reverse it to see if it works)

I'm working on a 365 project right now and it can be pretty tough trying to come up with something new every day. Just try different stuff out. I took a look at other streams for ideas until I figured out what my style was. Now I basically just wing it and I'm normally happy with what I turn out. The best thing about these projects are what you learn from them.

Good luck!

I'm just about to start one of these projects too, I've been practicing over the last few days to get some ideas so that when I get round to starting I will have some ideas to play with....
I find looking at Flickr pages good inspiration, I add the pictures I like to my favourites and will go back to those for inspiration when I hit a dry spot ideas wise!
