Default Another try

Ok, so I tried another shoot with different background...and changed positions of the lights. Please let me know what you think of this one...

Very nice! Still a little warm with the white balance, but it gives her hair and skin a nice tone. I think you've done a good job with the lighting ratios and made for some more dynamic lighting. Be careful, though, as the light to camera left seems closer to her and a little below her (at least with this pose), which can sometime give people a bit of a weird look when they are lit from below. That being said, it works here. Excellent work!

I think this is looking really good! Still have an issue with white balance i think, as she looks pretty warm. But I think you did a very good job with the lighting!

I believe I had the WB set on fluorescent...what should it be set at in this instance?
Thanks for the comments...this was my first portrait attempts even though she is my granddaughter.

I generally shoot a custom WB for my portrait work. I also shoot in RAW so if I need to I can change it or at least play with it in my CS3.
I think this looks pretty good to me but I am not in any way an expert.

I like this shot. I think you did a nice job with it. There is a range of temperature for fluorescent lighting and you may have been set to a higher or lower setting. I know the D300 can adjust for that, I am not sure about your model. At any rate, you are pretty close in this.
