Now that you've got the first one under your belt, you need to find more babies to practice on. Just yesterday, I told myself that I will have to pull out a little porcelain newborn doll that I have so that I can practice.

You can do the baby parts with the 50 1.8 until you are ready to get yourself a macro lens.

I'll come back to comment on color once I go back to work where I can hook my laptop up to my monitor.

You can post more photos in this thread.
Thanks Lputnam! Here are a few more to share....

I have several, but some were not so great. I am new to photoshop to so I was playing around with some of the pictures to get different effects. You can click on the "Brody" link under each picture and see more if you would like. I am uploading more later. Thanks!

Those are really cute! I like the one with his mom in it the most. I just wish that the skin in the bottom corner of the picture was covered with the black fabric. I am not sure what body part it is from or how it belongs there. The top one is so cute with all those great wrinkles. Babies are a lot of fun to shoot. Looks like you are starting out just fine. The more sessions you do the better you will get. I would see if your friend will let you take more pictures in 3 or 4 weeks. Babies change so much at this time and you can get more practice.
Good Luck!
Melissa

Melissa, Thank you for the comments and advice. The one with the mother and baby is also my favorite. I thought about cloning out that part and making it black, but I am new at photoshop and wasn't sure what it would look like when we print it. I am taking a few more this week with the Dad included in the pics. So I am open for suggestions to make my photos look better. They have said that they would like me to take pictures again as he gets older. I am looking forward to it. They also had me take a few with their nephew but they were a little harder since he was NOT wanting his picture taken at all! I did not charge them for the session but they are paying for any prints they want. I more or less told them that they had to let me use their pictures to show others some photos I have taken. Do you think that was a bad idea? Thanks again for your help!

I have checked the three links that was given before and i noticed that they use the natural light or Day light ... non of them were showing a flash reflectino in the eyes of the baby ..

as i came to know before that using a flash with a new borned baby might be too harsh for their eyes and might cause blindness ...

Please Avoid using flash with new born babies ..

Thank you for the information, that is good to know. I had not used a flash as I figured the bright light would upset him, but now I know definately not to use a flash. Thank you!

Thank you and congratulations on the baby arrival in November! I can't wait to see pics. I did find that shooting the baby was alot harder than I expected...I also found out that I need to get into shape. The kneeling up and down constantly for 2 hours was hard on my legs. You could say my muscles were sore and my husband thought it was quite funny! LOL! It was worth it though, our friends baby is such a little doll.
