Default How to pose a CFO?

Hey everyone! My brother in-law just asked me to take a headshot of him because he was recently promoted to CFO of a pretty well-known company. I'm a little worried because I know he is a super perfectionist and i'm used to photographing children! He told me he will be wearing a pink (LOL.. i know.. he's a little feminine) shirt and a dark colored tie. Should I go for an indoor or outdoor photo (it will be at 6pm tonight.. central)? I want it to look professional, so any tips or thoughts are VERY appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Well, since he already told you what he was wearing, it seems your options have been already narrowed for you. If that wasn't the case, I would have said to consider what kind of company it is--if he worked for Google it would be much more hip and casual in location and dress than if he worked for Bank of America--and talk to him about what type of image his company projected. Who is going to see it? Is it for his big fancy office with mahogony desk and plush carpeting? These are the things I would think of right off.

Thanks for the tips guys! Alpha, his company is one of the more stiff ones unfortunately! The photo will be circulated in the company news letter, the local news papers, and on the company's website. Luckily, I searched around on flickr and I think I got a few good ideas!

Might be a little late but I was going to add that most of those type of shots are in the office and make sure you have good depth of field.

Hello,
I think if he is a CFO, then the best portrait to take of him would be a traditional, conservative, head and shoulder portrait, especially if they are going to use it primarily for PR. I like the other ideas at the desk or in his work environment if it was going to be used as a wall portrait on the corporate wall.

Well, I so very much appreciate the ideas guys! Unfortunately, we met up, took about 20 photos, and his wife, (who is a total bear) started calling demanding him home for dinner. LOL. Oh well, I got good practice for a minute!
