Default Portrait Lighting Help

I'm not sure if this in the right place or not. I have two pictures here, one is taken under the patio cover and the other taken, obviously, in the pool. My question is why does the picture under the patio cover have a "warm" type tint and the one in the pool has a bluish tint. Plus the one in the pool the whites of her eyes are bluish. Is it because of the reflection in the pool? The white balance is the same in both photos and there isn't too much difference in the other settings. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You didn't post the EXIF information (that is explained in the rules of this forum) but I would guess that you are using an incorrect White Balance setting.

Arrow Cute Model! Both images are adorable.

Hi Chippee,

I don't profess to know all there is to know about white balance, but I think the major difference in these two is the fact that you were using Auto White Balance, so the color schemes in your two very different compositions affected the way your camera processed the color balance.

In researching this a bit, I came across this article that talks about this very issue when it comes to using AWB.

If you shoot in RAW you should be able to correct this in post. Otherwise, you might try to select a white balance present other than AWB, or determine the best way to customize your white balance in each setting.

Hope this helps!

Crap... always forget to do that. White balance is on auto for both shots

Thanks a lot Sandee, this is very helpful. I didn't shoot these in raw. I will definitely try this again. Thanks for the info.
