Default Ideas?

Hello,

I am working on a special project for my church group, where I'm doing black and white portraits of every member, individually, along with a group photo or two.

This group is approx. 15 people, and I was wondering about something: Seeing as I do not have the funds to use a stage/stand thingy for multiple levels, yet do have a small pickup truck - how would you reccomend using my truck for that, without it detracting from the portrait?

See what I'm shooting for (no pun intended), here: http://williambwarren.shutterfly.com/178
these are the ones I took - not the ones i've chosen.

You could always get up on top of the truck and shoot down at the group. Or you can have them all posed around, in, ontop of the truck. Depends on how creative you want to get. Also 15 people is not that large of a group you can just go 8 people standing 7 people kneeling if you wanted.

Is it possible for you to shoot inside of the church? If so you could have half of the group sitting in one of the pews and the other half standing behind them. I don't know how big the church is but if there is an aisle between the pews have the people sitting in the pews closest to the aisle and you shoot the picture from near the pulpit facing the door. Just some ideas.

Going along with that, if you have access to the choir's balcony (if, of course, your church happens to have one), have the 15 mingle about it the seats below, ideally towards the front, and pick them up with a tele-photo zoom lens while also including part of the... N side of the church (my apologize, the church I attend is not in English, thus I'm not sure what the term is). Otherwise, you can also try to just have them just over the balcony's edge, so that you can use the repetitive setting (the pews) contrast against the individuality of each member. Or, if in similar attire, for example, to strengthen the unity.

Just my $.02

Thanks!

I hadn't thought about using the pews, to be honest. Of course, I tend to over-think things.

I'll look into that!
