what lens would you use?

This Saturday I'm going to a anti-war protest in down town Portland. I want to take some pictures. I need to know what lens would be best. I have the kit lens my Sony a350 came with, the 18-70mm. I also have a Minolta 75-300mm. I have a wide angle attachment for the 18-70mm, should i use that? the weather is supposed to be nice, sunny in the 60's. I'm still learning so any advice would be great. I'll probably end up taking both. i just want to know what would be my best option. Thanks...

I think you would want both - the wide angle to capture the scope and size of the protest, and the longer lens so you can zoom in on people's faces...

thanks for your advice. what about settings? What do you think would be good settings? I mainly keep it on auto, but i need to learn the manual settings. Any suggestions?

Every situation is different, light is always different, no one can tell you what settings to use without being there. However is this an outdoor event? If so look up the "sunny 16 rule" That should help you with what settings to use outside in the daytime.
