When my girls do their winter and summer dance recitals, I always shoot all the dances I can, not just their dances. Unlike a big dance competition which tends to have consistent lighting......these recitals have different lighting for almost every dance. To boot you only have maybe a minute or so in between some 30+ dances. So I tend to shoot AWB and deal with it afterward in Lightroom and Photoshop.
Anyone have any thoughts on how to ease this problem? Or is it just one of those things? Thanks

I always use a custom white balance, and reset it if the stage/performance area changes. There is this neat little device called an Expo-disc, you hold it up to your camera and take a white balance reading off of it. But the problem is they cost $50+ and, like a glass filter, are kind of fragile. SO, so I use a white coffee filter, one of the cloth/fiber kind you get in a pack of 100 for $2 at the grocery store. Works just the same and no risk of breaking...

I can't add much to what has been posted except to strongly suggest you shoot in RAW if at all possible. You can adjust the balance later. That is what I do. I work for a professional dance company and shoot as much of our concerts as my duties allow that way.
