Default first try at portrait, 50 mm prime

I have my camera ( Canon 450d/xsi ) for about a year now. Got a 50 mm F/1.8 ( actually borrowed it from a friend), and i took this portrait in a McDon*ld`s restaurant.

took it with a Canon 450D / Xsi, 50 mm prime lens.

shot as RAW, allthough didn`t think it required white balancing. ( i might be wrong )
done a +20 contrast, luminosity in photoshop
unsharp mask 150%, 4px, 7 treshold.
resampled for DPS.

feel free to adjust and link back .. i`m learning .

Oh...very nice. Look at that bokeh! She has great catchlights in her eyes. She may be a tad bit cool but I tend to like my images on the warmer side so that may just be me. Overall, great job!

Excellent portrait! Wonderful focus on the eyes and creamy bokeh. Don't you love that nifty fifty? For the price, it's a great little lens!

Thank you all for your comments, I acually thought the photo was one of my first sucessful photos.

The aperture was f1.8 obviously. why have a nifty-fifty ( i don`t quite like that name :P ) if you don`t shoot wide open?

Thought i shoud get the 50mm f1.4 usm.. the f1.8 i have has been dropped 4 times onto concrete, sounds like a rattle snake when it focuses ( internal piece with the optics moves 2-3 mm sideways .. ), and it is borrowed ..

i have the higher resolution photo.. if i look carefully i can see myself in her eyes .. cool

Wow, I think it's a great photo. Just wanted to say about something reflected in her eyes, when I've seen you already mentioned that (and what it is). I mean - it's great - focus on her eyes, depth of field, bokeh... and you took it in restaurant with peculiar lighting... very good job!

Hello, world! First post here. Anyways.

Perhaps it's just my monitor (it's exceptionally bright), but I think a tad more contrast would make all the difference. Otherwise it's a lovely photo and I definitely mirror what everyone else has said. Great work! Primes are my favorites to shoot with.

I added a little contrast myself; the difference is very subtle, but I feel like the colors pop more this way. I may need to adjust my monitor soon if it's "just me"

I think it's beautiful and you never would know it's at a McD's. You captured beauty in an ugly place!!
