Front lit (natural) but no catachlights

I took this picture of my daughter around 10:0am in bright sunlight, and was a little disappionted to see absolutley no catchlights at all.



Why so? Is there a way I could have got a Catchlight in her eyes? I can see that right eye is kinda hidden behind her hair and not much scope for light reflecting of her pupil, but what about her left eye?

You could have her look more towards the sun or light source, although in bright sun that might make her squint.

You could try a fill flash - that would open up her face and create those catchlights in the middle of the day.

You could also try a reflector...

It's a great photograph - catchlights or not

Thanks Taylor. Next time I'll try to reposition her or do the fill in flash.

Reflectors ...hmmm I dont think I'm there yet, I'm still chasing her around on her tricycle so carrying a tin-foil around may not happen anytime soon . But I shall remember that.

haha, yeah maybe save the reflector for when she is older
kids are diffcult - but fun - to photograph!
