Yeah! That's what I'm looking for. I just downloaded GImp, but don't have time to tool with it today, but I may try and take the pictures tonight.

Thanks a ton Wooglah and Aimee.

So, thought I would keep you all up to date. I've downloaded GIMP, but have no idea what I'm doing, and haven't a lot of time to watch tutorials on line. But as for the picture, here's an early attempt with the photo's semitransparent and then merged. Not quite what I'm looking for, but definitely on the right track. I want to try again, get a few more shots before the boy crawls over to the tripod and moves it around, like he did with this series. Also, I don't mind the transparency, but I would like the final position to be fully opaque. What do you think so far?

Lightbulb Can't wait to see the finished product!!

VERY CUTE!!!! I love that he's looking at you and smiling in every pose.

I don't know GIMP, but am guessing similar terminology...gimp users, help me out because I have not mastered this in photoshop either...

the trick is to "mask out" the various positions of your son from the multi-layers so that each layer underneath shows through.

Here is a 3.25 minute gimp masking tutorial that should help get you started.

Good luck!!

Ok - getting much closer. I think I've got it figured out, but I need to put some detail time into it to get exactly what I'm looking for, but for a 2nd draft I'm pleased.

Congrats on learning a new technique! I'm going to try this out soon, I'd like to have it for skateboarding this summer.. You should also try positioning your tripod a bit lower for a couple shots as well, so you aren't getting the typical ~looking down~ perspective on a child. Getting down to his eye level or lower might make for a much more interesting composition.

Good job
