Yes, I can definately get hold of the person again.. She is a friend of a friend. and I see her fairly often.

Thanks for the info. I suspected that would probably be the case but wanted to get a second opinion just to make sure.

I'm thinking of getting into wedding photography. Are model releases really necessary in wedding shots or other group shots? It seems a bit awkward, if not impossible, to get everyone who is in a big wedding scene to read and sign a model release. Sorry in advance if this has already been covered in your great post.

I've never heard of a wedding photographer or portrait photographer using a model release. You're not invading anyone's privacy by being a wedding photographer. If you want to use the images in advertising your business, you should have permission, since that may run contrary to your customer's expectation.
