Default Question about taking pics in quite a dark hall

Hello all,

I have a question.
In A few month I hava a gig to take pictures in a party in a hall. It's a sitting down event.
I have a Nikon D80 with a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 and a Nikkor 50mm 1.8. I also a have Nikon SB-600.
A couple op month ago i took pics in the same hall. It was ok. But I had to use quite a high iso to take close up's(ISO1000). But overview's did not go at all. Was just too dark.
Now I recently bought a studio set with 3 lamps of 150 W / S.

I'm really looking for good tips to get good photos.
It's quite a dark room. About > 4 meters high .

Would you give me some tips? Will my new studio flash lights help me out?

ps. I am not planning to invest more money in gear right now.
