Peeperita's mirror idea is a good one to help reflect light. Perhaps another light source such as a desk lamp or table lamp with a sheer cloth over it (don't set any fires!) will help. Just be careful that it doesn't get too hot for the baby. Check out a few poses on flickr such as these.

Do you have white sheets? You may be able to use those as large reflectors as well to bring in some more light. Also pay attention to when the most light is coming through your window during the day time.

If you have a tripod, that will help eliminate some camera shake when you are taking pictures at lower shutter speeds as well.

Also, consider having your cousins parents bring some lights with them as well or purchasing one or two for you maybe from a thrift shop or second hand store in exchange for taking pictures?

what you do is place the mirror on the opposite side of the baby from where the window is.....the mirror will reflect the light from the window back onto the shadowed side of the baby....ideally, you want both the window and the mirror out of the view of the lens.....

the bigger mirror is going to be great for this.....don't worry about it falling over.....just have it far enough away from amie.....maybe leaned up against the wall oppoitite the window.....you'll know immediately where the right angle/tilt should be because you're going to see the light begin to shine on her.....

let me know if i can help further explain it.....and, oh!......best of luck to you with this.....it sounds as if this is very important to you.....

Default yes

this is my first real photoshoot, without help from anyone.
and I lvoe amie and i want her to look really nice.

I mean she has a beautiful smile and it makes even the grumpiest person smile.
really.
i want to catch it, be proud to say i took that picture of her that everyone will love.

I tried the mirror thing and it did work some what.

The only problem was that the wall oppostie the mirror was to far away so i had to lean it againt a bed and it kept sliding.

it was horrifing i get think the mirror would fall.

sicne rolling the film and developing the film takes up my class time.
I'll have the pictures on paper by wednesday and online my thuresday.
I hope the pictures aren't flat.
I want it to ahve white blacks and grey.
last time i tried indoor pictures they were really flat values only grey.

If you don't want a flat picture, you want a strong directional light so you get highlights and shadows. What direction does the window face? There might be an optimum time of day when the sun will give you just what you need.

Default the sun

the sun usually hitsd my window the best around 4pm, a few minutes before it starts to set.

it gives me about an hour to take good pictures.

bad thing is.... that it's usually no the right time for amie.

and i have to work around her since she doesn't give one whoot about a pretty picture
