Hi! I was wondering if anyone had some tips for me for a fashion photography shoot. My friend asked me to do a photo shoot of her new line of clothes for class. What I know is that it'll be in the day time in the sun and shade. I believe the walls are whitish at the area the models will be in. I was wondering if the portrait tips would help here, or should I be getting more full body shots since this would be more about the clothes? Thanks everyone!

Study fashion magazines, especiall those dealing with the same type of clothes for the line your shooting. This will give you an idea of what's fresh in the industry and don't hesitate to talk to your friend about it. I'm willing to bet she has lot's of fashion mags laying around that you can both go over together.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Great tips above. Good luck!

A tip I picked up from a book that may actually help is to remember that the clothes only have to look good through the camera. It doesn't matter WHAT mess of tape/pins/whatever you've got behind, as long as it hangs properly for the shot, so don't hesitate to have the designer pin something up the way you want it to look through the lens.
I don't know if it's a good tip, but it struck me as helpful when I read it.
