Default Night Photography

Hi,
I have been doing photography in the Occasions such as Dance Function and Prizing Ceremony,in this case its been an inconsistent light on the subject or the people whom i am photographing as a result the Photos i take comes out lil underexposed(Only the certain part of the photo gets exposed rest comes in underexposed) mainly at the end of the frame.I am using Canon 1000D camera, settings for the camera i use is [manual mode-Exposure( 1/80 to 125)-Aperture(3.5 to 8)-flash On - Evaluate Metering mode]

I had seen pro photographers photo .. they also used the same setting but their photos comes out well exposed from right to left of the frame..while mine picture get fine light on the center where flash falls while the right and left of the frame gets underexposed..It being photographing people of around 18 to 20 people sitting in audience.5 people's photo gets exposed good but rest behind gets underexposed!

I am Learning photography please guide me regarding this.how can i improve on that.
Thnx

Hello. Can you post a photo so we can see what is happening? Are you using the built in flash or some sort of external flash?

The person on the right is closer than the person on the left. It's not much, but with the built-in flash, its enough to affect exposure.

Built in flashes are not the best in the world. It tends to be very harsh and unflattering light. The bonus for an off camera flash is the ability to direct the light where you want it to go. Say, off a white ceiling, behind the shooter, off to eother left or right. With the correct lighting, anything is possible.
