Hello all!
I am having my first "official" photoshoot for a family of seven this month... have a Canon Rebel Xti, and 18-55mm lens. They are wanting a few different family shots (standing, sitting, etc.) and then a shot of each of the children (portrait type). I could really use some posing tips for both the group and the kids shots! I will probably be shooting at a local park around 4:30--is that a good time? What settings are best to use for group shots? I was thinking either AV or Manual? Also, the lens I have probably isn't the best of lenses for portraits, but that is all I have right now--any tips on how to get good results with it? I am rather nervous, so I have quite a few questions! ![]() Thanks SO much in advance!!! PS> Forgot to mention... I would like to try and get some father/daughter, all kids, etc. shots as well, so would appreciate examples of those too. It would also be GREAT if I could see some examples of photos you all have taken with an 18-55mm, so I know what I can expect from my own. Again, THANKS SO MUCH!!! Flickr is a really great way to get inspiration, I search keywords and go from there.
I really love the 18-55 lens, as long as you are not using it at its max zoom and keeping your f stop around 6.3 to 8 it's pretty crisp. You should use whatever mode you are most comfortable with, if manual is good for you, use it; if you feel better in AV use that ![]() Just remember with group shots to keep your aperture smaller(higher number) so that everyone is in focus. this was shot with my 18-55
