Default newborn textured blanket

So I have a friend that is expecting any day, and I told her that I would love to shoot the little bundle of joy when he arrives. I want to try new things and practice as much as possible! So I've been spending way too much time online looking up newborn photography tips, and I noticed that there seems to be a certain "textured and fluffy" ( that's the technical term i'm sure!) fabric/blanket that most use on the bean bag. Anyone know what the actual stuff is???? I'm sure it's super soft...

Can you post a link or two to photos that show what the heck you're talking about? LOL

LOL!

By the way, I know exactly what that photographer is using. It's this one: OFELIA Blanket - IKEA

Yeah...ridiculously expensive, though. I've gotten the best blankets/props/etc. from places like Target, Walmart, and consignment shops.

i'm taking some pics of a friends newborn next week and so was shopping for that exact white blanket, didn't find it unfortunately but went to the fabric store for some super soft minky fabric and a piece of fur, grabbed a few soft knited scarves and colored fleece....have a few baskets and things so I'm almost all set.....

In addition to the specific blanket you are looking for (that Susan gave you a link to) I would suggest hitting up a fabric store. There you will find a world of fabric in all kinds of textures and colors. Even if you don't sew, you could purchase a few yards and just tuck the edges under so they aren't visible when you photograph.

Also, if you crochet, you could use a large hook and some baby soft Boucle yarn and whip up some small throws in no-time.

I may not know what I'm doing with a camera yet...... but I'm right at home with my sewing machine, knitting needles and crochet hooks
