Question Little Red Riding Hood - Shooting [help]

Hi all !! I want to do a "Little Red Riding Hood" shooting in the nearby woods.

Participants: wolfhound, red cape, a female friend

Equipment:
- Canon EOS 1000D
- EF-S 18-55 f/3.5 / EF 50mm f/1.8 II
- Nissin Di622

My idea was to cover the model partially with the cape - some sort of implied nude shooting.
But as it is my very first shooting of that kind, I would be very grateful to get some tips and hints !

Thanks

Check this guy out. He may be able to help you. He did a Red Riding Hood series not long ago.

Seems to be a pretty nice guy. He may respond if you send him an email for dome pointers.

I know this is going to sound a bit blunt to the point of not being helpful.. but without knowing more about what you know or have, I have to say this:

Learn the basics
learn your camera
learn flash

I have no idea what you know or what experience you have, so I assume, by your kit and your question that you're pretty new.

Do you know how to expose properly? Especially with flash.
Do you know how to deal with an environment (such as a wooded area) where you may have low light? Or bright light coming through the trees?
Do you know how to use fill flash? Are you able to shoot your flash off camera instead of mounted on the camera?

I would love to help more, but I'm just not sure how to answer your question without simply saying, learn how to expose and flash properly, get creative with your compositions and you should be ok. But that's not very helpful is it? Sorry

@ RLucas: Thank you for the hint!

@ BigFuzzy: Thank you for your answer !
I am not a 100% novice, I am a hobby-photographer for about two years now. Mostly all of my work is done with/by available-light, so you're right, I have to learn more about the flash-technique! Although I hope I won't need it a lot...

What I wanted to know - is my equipment is adequate?

And if someone can give me some hints about how to shoot with an dog involved? (I only have experience with cats )

Thanks!!

I'd recommend using available light or a reflector, but not on-camera flash for a more natural, flattering look.

Thanks, I hope a DIY-reflector will do the job
