Default Family Reunion Photography question

Hello Guys,

I will be shooting at a Family Reunion next weekend. There are going to be 70 +/- people coming. There will be a Dance, Variety Show, Picnick, and Brunch over two days. Do you all have any Tips or Suggestions? Basically anything you think would be helpful. Or Certain shots to get. Or what people look for in reunion pictures.

Also everything besides the picnick will be in a Hotel lobby Area.

Thanks!

Just keep thinking big smiles, hugs, emotion and memories .. cute kids doing funny things. I tend to shy away from sticking to a planned specific shot list .. improvise and get the best shot at each given moment .. instead of missing the best shot because you're thinking about the shot on the list. However it is a good idea to know some general ideas of desired shots .. but you need to be asking the person who is paying you to shoot the reunion ... who cares what anyone here thinks is a good shot idea .. it's not our family event .. you need to be asking questions to the person who wanted you to take the photos. What shots do they want? What styles do they like? ... step up the customer relations and it will help you deliver what the client likes.

Of course you want the typical group shots of people posing, but I also like taking candid shots of people doing whatever they do at reunions and not staring into a camera.

Default Photography tips

Reunions are usually filled with lots of momentous events and you should be on the lookput for the happiest up to the tear-jerking moments. It will also be important to take pictures of each family, the different generations, as well as the entire clan.
