Are you referring to the shaped bokeh, or bokeh in general? For good bokeh, I use a large aperture lens in order to allow more light to pass through the lens in low light situations. Usually you cannot achieve this with a standard 18-55 lens without cranking up the ISO to a ridiculously large number; which will result in more noise/grain in your photo. I would suggest a lens with a minimum f/stop number no higher than 2 or so... but that's just me. I have a 35mm 1.8 that I bought for about $200 and works wonderfully in low light situations, and produces great bokeh at higher apertures. And, the link that Susan provided for shaped bokeh is what you'll need for the starred and heart shaped bokeh. Good luck
