indoor natural light - d7000 - any hot tips on camera settings?

Hi,

I have a great opportunity tomorrow morning for a natural light photoshoot in someones house. (This guy is covered in tattoos, long dreadlocks and lots of piercing - great image and great head and shoulder subject _I hope!).

I will be taking D7000, Tripod, 50mm 1.4, white reflector black/white backdrop

Question - I'll probably use, Aperture mode, single point AF, and spot metering, does that sound ok, any other camera setting tips, do's and dont's ?

don't forget your whitebalance.



avoid focus/recompose at wide apertures because focus shift is a pain in the @$$.

learning your camera would be my first statement here...
with the gear that you have... a d7K and a 1.4 prime... (which wow, i either want your job or your credit card for that 1.4)

but ... yes you are correct on your settings and backgrounds

white balance is iffy.. especially on the d7k...
ive done some of my own tests and find that the auto wb is darn near perfect vs my grey card

some other donts:
do not use the pop up flash
do not only let your tripod dictate how to compose the photo
