Default Outdoor Photoshoot Location scouting.

hi, this is my first post here, although i've lurked for some while, absorbing facts and such. so here's my dilemma. i'm looking for a location to have a photoshoot, outdoors, ofcourse. i intend on using reflectors, possibly an external flash for fill light if needed, and my 50mm 1.8. my issue is how to find a location for a shoot, and what to look for in a location.
i'm having a lot of trouble in deciding whether i want it urban or rural right now, and even then, should i choose a populated area, or a secluded area?
thanks!

The answer is to your question lies in so many variables. What will your model wear? What is their style? What is your style? What kind of mood do you want to set? What is the story your photos will tell? You can use pretty much any setting for a shoot, so think those things through (along with others' suggestions) and decide.

As for me, I like to shoot in various locations -- with the same model on a photo shoot. Beach, hotel, park, on the street, at an ice cream shop... look around. There are always places to shoot. Have fun!

And one of the great things about shooting digital is -- IF the photos suck, you can delete them. Nothing used but a little battery power, a few shutter actuations and time. If you learn from any bad photos, even those things are not a waste, but part of the process to taking better photos next time.

Hi and welcome,
CharlieJ's first paragraph nails it - you need to figure out what you want to do. Location s/b easy just wait till you have to decide about lighting, camera settings and model poses...
