I normally shoot live bands with no flash, but when I'm in a bar it usually happens that patrons would like their photos taken with band members. so I turn on my on camera flash and make adjustments for the flash (go from f/1.8 to about f/4, and drop the ISO from 1600 to 200) still shooting in aperture priority and my shots come out blurry.
the attached images EXIF data is Canon Rebel XS Canon 28mm f/1.8 prime lens aperture f/4 shutter speed 1/200 sec ISO 200 metering - Center Weighted average compulsory flash @ 35mm focal length Thanks DPS

Sure looks to me like your camera was focused on something behind the people in both shots.

Which point did you choose? Did you have it set for just one focus point or multiple? Do you have it set for single servo or continuous? Did you have to a focus assist light on (if your camera has one)?

honestly I can't remember .. I would say that it was probably on AI Servo mode, and multiple focus points, because that is how I have it set when I shoot the bands.
looks like that might have been the problem .. i'll just have to try it this weekend.. and with a camera upgrade with lots more features to figure out, this should be fun ![]() thanks

I would say that you just took it too fast. Happens to me all the time when I shoot basketball. Albeit, I use the center focus point only.

In low light the camera may not be able to focus as quickly or accurately as youre used to, and it seems thats what's happened here.
