I was asked to take the picture of a family of 4 inside their house with the xmas tree. I'm worry about the ambient light and inside light and the xmas tree lights and how to get everything correctly exposed. Questions:
What should I expose to? Should I bring my softboxes and umbrellas to help with lighting? How do I balance the ambient with the indoor lights? Change settings to tungsten? Any other suggestions and example links are welcome. Thanks in advance, CG |

I'm not expert on lighting but what I did when I took a shot of my daughter by the Christmas tree was have the camera mounted on a tripod and low ISO and slowish shutter speed to capture the ambient light.
If I were you I'd turn off all the household lights otherwise it just messes things up/confuses things further. Good luck!
