My first thought was "Vogue" by Madonna. Sure she might look like Dee Snider these days, but back in the day, that whole "using the hands/arms to frame the face" thing was the thing.
Another thing that came to mind was (you highly Christian people may want to look away here) a Virgin Mary type of pose. Shot with an overhead strobe (and maybe from above), that might make for a really interesting look. Just $0.02 from someone who doesn't usually do posed portraits. |

Now that you say that though, I ought to use my yearbook staff badge to get into school at recess and get a shot of the little girls trading those things. It is serious business, I'm telling ya! She has a cloth draw string bag (about the size of a Crown Royal bag, not that I ever drink alcohol or anything, just guessing on the size ) full of them that she takes to school everyday to trade. They sit out there at recess and lay out what they want to trade, bartering with each other. My older son used to do this with Pokemon cards. I guess they are out now though? At least out with him since he is almost 20 now.

i think that the biggest issue in shooting these would be that once they are on an arm, or finger, they lose what they are...
i saw a shot of someone showing off their full sleeve tattoo (full arm decked out) and it was shot with a softbox overhead, all black backgroud the subject holding arm up at about a 45degree angle and the arm as the primary subject (sorry cant find the pic to show) just a thought
