Default Catwalk - Tips

Hi there,

Could anyone give a tip on taking shots with models doing catwalk in manual mode (outdoors). I was in Cardiff where i spotted an outdoor catwalk.

Issue 1 - Clouds / Sun had to constantly adjust the exposure level , then i lose the shot

Issue 2 - Moving Objects - same issue as above

I had to settle in Sports Mode on my Dx40 which was quite good. & i manage to get some terrific shot. However i always have had the preference of using manual mode.

Tks

You could use AV mode and set your aperture and let the camera decide the shutter speed. If need, you could increase or decrease the EC as needed. That's how I shoot football on a sunny day with lots of clouds in the sky; otherwise, if there are no clouds, I put it manual and set and shoot. I use AI Servo tracking on the moving target.
