I read a post yesterday from Tom Sparks about posing swimsuit models. Of course, he says something to the effect of you should have a repertoire of poses to use when necessary throughout the shoot.

I had to laugh. So close, yet so far.

Anyway, I thought I'd share that link. Some of you guys might find Tom's tips useful.

I had the opportunity today to take some snapshots at a co-worker's birthday. I realised that I was waiting for the subject to ask for me to take a photo before I would step out and get him to pose to make the photo look a certain way. I think part of my problem is simply shyness. Does having a camera in your hand give you a privilege or requirement, even, to structure a scene in a way that it turns out well for the photographic record (which is often the only memory people are left with)? What is the line between observing and intervening?

Thanks all :-)
