First thing I would suggest, is not posting three posts here pretty much exactly the same asking the same questions within a 20 minute period. You should probably delete one of the posts.

Second, you should know that there is no "magic settings pill" for taking "nice" photos so whatever we say is only a very general guidelines.

We cannot tell you how to set them up for "best use" because it's all about the lighting conditions and we don't know what conditions you're shooting in. I'm assuming you know nothing about your camera, so if I told you to "use a shallow DoF and shoot her open shade (if outdoors) or in natural light (if indoors) while ensuring you keep your shutter speed at at least 1/60th of a second while shooting at a focal length of 70-100mm using your bumping up your ISO if needed to keep focus sharp due to shutter speed" would you know what I'm talking about or even how to change things to get those settings? I assume not.

So, my advice, since you're apparently in a hurry since you've posted quite a bit, is to shoot this in full auto.. then spend a little time learning about your camera first then some basic photography theory because right now it would be really difficult for me to tell you do do anything but "put it on AUTO settings"

Also, if you know, you need to tell us under what conditions you plan to shoot? Indoors? Outdoors? Do you have a flash other than the pop-up flash? Time of day (which is very important)..so, see, it's not just about settings and it's why it's so difficult to answer the "quick, what do I do to take nice photos" question.

Having said all that. Here are my basic pointers:

Use your 50mm lens.
Shoot with a large aperture (small f number). You can do this by shooting in AP mode and making the number as small as possible. Read the manual to see how to do this.
Make sure you can keep a shutter speed of 1/60th or higher. Seeing as you're new to it, I'd aim to get 1/100th.
I think you can easily shoot with ISO 200-400 with that camera.
Don't use pop up flash, it's pretty horrible unless you know how to use the flash-compensation.
Ensure you think about composition (ei background, don't center subject)
And finally, and (to me) most importantly, make sure you get the eyes in focus.. which probably means NOT using the setting that turns on ALL focal points.. use the center focal point and "focus lock and recompose" or use manual focusing.

That's a starter.. enjoy.. and post some results so we can give you better more detailed instructions.
Good luck.
